Club History

Fareham Town were formed in 1947, when three local sides Fareham FC, Fareham Brotherhood FC and Fareham Youth Centre FC amalgamated. They joined the Portsmouth League and started playing their games at Beaconsfield Meadow, before moving to Bath Lane. In 1975 the club then moved to its present home of the Cams Alders ground.
At the end of the 1948-49 season the club gained promotion to Division 3 (East) of the Hampshire League, and gained promotion to Division Two as champions at the first attempt. The club made further progress in the 1952-53 season when they finished as Runners-up in Division Two to gain promotion to Division One. Three seasons later the club then made its debut in the FA Cup, making it to the fourth qualifying round before being knocked out by Wycombe Wanderers. The club in the 1959-60 competition won Division One for the first time.
With the club finishing runners up in the 1978-79 campaign the club successfully joined the Southern Football League.hern Division. In the 1982-83 season the club was placed in the Premier Division of the league, when it was re-structured. The club would then spend the next seven seasons in the Premier Division, during which time, they managed to get to the Semi-finals of the FA Trophy before losing to the eventual winners Kidderminster Harriers. At the end of the 1988-89 campaign the club finished 19th and were relegated to the Southern Division, where they would then spend the next nine seasons. During this time the club would win the Hampshire Senior Cup for the fourth time, when they beat Farnborough Town 4-1 in the final.
At the end of the 1997-98 season the club, decided to move down to the Wessex League, due to the finances involved in staying in the Southern League. Since then the club has remained in the top division of the Wessex League, and hopefully that's how it will remain.
                                                                Welcome to Fareham

Spoons watch - above the ubiquitously named "The Crown" and top right the "Lord Arthur Lee".

Fareham celebrates it's first 25 years with the Falkland Islands.

Welcome to Fareham Town FC, where you will meet................

Fareham's finest

and our old friend "Urban Decay"

"Goods" poses seductively with his cement mixer. Regular readers will be aware of his fixation with cranes. Such is the case,  he changed his surname to "Crane" by deed poll.He is also friends with John "Portsmouth Football Club" Westwood (see below), who is another serial name changer. There must be something in the Fratton water which makes 'em want to do it!

Behind the scenes at Fareham F.C.

Here is the famous Fareham FC clubhouse, shall we take a look inside readers ???............

You can see why some folk say it's more like a nightclub, this probably has something to do with the fact it "doubles up" as the hot bed of Fareham night life when the sun gone down. They tell me it's the place to been seen in! Apparently Sussex Hopper is a frequent visitor to these quarters.

The "club sec" proudly poses with the main stand. During the game, a local source informed me the stand cost £13,000 to construct in 1974. I hope I got thatS right Goods, please let me know if not - Oops sorry did not mean to stitch you up mate - yours truly "Rich the Stitch".

Lets have some highlights from the "Big Match"

Deciding where to go, can be a full time job for the ground hopper at this stage of the season. There is nothing worse than watching a "meaningless" end of season game. Fareham Town FC have been on my "radar" for a while now, so with the team in a relegation dog fight there seemed no better time than the present to "tick it" off. The decision was made easier with the availability of a cheap train fare, which facilitated the ticking of two "bonus" spoons ticks in Chichester. Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? Please read on and enjoy - I did lol!

Giles "the Badger" celebrates Fareham's first goal, whilst the others still can't believe Fareham have scored. Note - Flip flops in April - Hardy Hampshire folk.

Whilst others desperately check their phones to establish the progress (or lack of hopefully) of their relegation rivals.

Surely that's a pen!

and that's a miss. Don't worry readers, Fareham managed to score another from the rebound.

The nervous crowd watch on in hope of a home win.

And they were not to be disappointed, as the home side were comfortable winners in the end. In their battle to avoid the "drop" they face Newport (IoW) next Tuesday and finish the season away to Andover on Saturday. They need to win both games if they're to survive - can they do it? As always watch this space readers.

A happy ending for once!
