*Special Match Report for an extraordinary match

Match abandoned after 82 minutes when a fifth Wingate player was sent off, leaving them unable to field the legal minimum of seven players.

There was no reason to dispute any of the dismissals, yet they were all isolated incidents. No-one would describe it as a dirty game. The first half was hard-fought but goalless, and it was seven minutes into the second period when the first red card was shown, to Ahmet Rifat for violent conduct in an off-the ball incident.

Nine minutes later a foul by Osa Obamwonyi earned him a yellow card, and a red one since he had been cautioned early in the game for handling.

The offence also produced a Thurrock penalty, which Stuart Thurgood (Ex Spurs Youth Trainee?) converted for what would be the only goal of the afternoon.

A wild challenge from behind by Ronayne Marsh-Brown had referee Sam Purkiss reaching for his red card again in the 72nd minute and Jon Christian departed seven minutes later, earning his second yellow for kicking the ball away.

When Scott Shulton received his marching orders for his language to the referee the game had to end. It is believed to be the first time in the league’s 108-year history that a game has been abandoned for this reason.

In the circumstances, the league have decided to award all three points to Thurrock F.C

Attendance: 161
Customer Service : despite the sendings off, Wingate is rather friendly. The clubhouse, has a good supply of Parnell Pilsner on tap.

Weather : Extraordinary Cold - tried to snow throughout the game.

This is where it all started for Keith - his very first ground and he has not looked back since.

This is mainly due to the urban decay he found and...

The Wingate (Not the Winchester Club) - which is the proud home of Parnell Pilsner.

Let battle commence...literally.
Wingate is famous for it's Art Deco style main stand. It is rather unique, the back of this stand is replica of the front and forms the mainstand for the rugby club. Unfortunately, this picture does not do it justice - sorry folks you will just have to take my word for it -like so much of this.
Sending off No 1

Wingate is only for the lonely.
Matters begin to heat up - with sending off No 3.

Some rare goal mouth action.
Game over - Sending off No 5.

The men in black are escorted off the pitch for their own safety.
