Introduction

Cardiff City Football Club are a club based in  that compete in the English football league system. The club is competing in the Premier League for the first time in the 2013–14 season. They play their home games at the Cardiff City Stadium, after moving from Ninian Park in 2009.

The club was founded as Riverside A.F.C. in 1899 and is the only club from outside England to have won the FA Cup, which they won in 1927. The club won the Football League Championship title in the 2012-13 season and were promoted to the top flight for the first time in 51 years. This followed two lost national cup finals, the 2008 FA Cup Final against Portsmouth and the 2012 Football League Cup Final against Liverpool, the latter being settled by a penalty shootout.

In 2012, Cardiff City was rebranded by the club's Malaysian owner, Vincent Tan. This included the changing of the club's home colours and crest, from blue to red as illustrated below.

For this one, we travelled in the trendy Butler mobile - unfortunately it got a "flat" tyre.

Beyond the rail tracks is the Millennium Stadium  (Welsh: Stadiwm y Mileniwm), which is the national stadium of Wales, located in the capital city, Cardiff. It is the home of the Wales national rugby union team and also frequently stages games of the Wales national football team. Initially built to host the 1999 Rugby World Cup, it has gone on to host many other large-scale events, such as the Tsunami Relief concert, the Super Special Stage of Wales Rally Great Britain, the Speedway Grand Prix of Great Britain, and numerous music concerts.

What has happened to Ninian Park?

Well readers, I can inform you the area has been redeveloped  to be the site of a multi million pound gated housing estate. The only positive point I could find was the absence of a well known supermarket outlet.

Only a plaque to the late Jock Stein and the gates to Ninian Park exist from the old ground - how sad is that? Oh well, the Butler and the Drummer look pretty happy so can't be all bad then?

Great words by a great man.

In true Bill Nicholson fashion, Spurs kept playing football and peppered the Cardiff goal with shots on more than one occasion only to be denied by the brilliant efforts of their keeper. That's not to say, Cardiff were not without their moments as well. If, was not for Hugo Lloris coming of his line so speedily, we could have easily been a goal down on more than occasion.

Nevertheless Spurs kept pressing for a goal and it in the last minute it came from a back heel by Tottenham's other Brazilian Superstar - Paulinho - the great man would have been very proud indeed.
